List of county routes in Erie County, New York (225–256)

The following is a list of county routes in Erie County, New York. Most of the routes act as primary roads in the less developed areas and also serve to interconnect the various villages and hamlets of the county. Not all routes are signed. All routes are maintained by the Erie County highway department. The area has over 300 routes, due to the urbanizing of Erie County. Routes 250 through 511 all run in a general northeast–southwest pattern. No other patterns exist in Erie County.

Route 232

County Route 232 (CR 232) is an east–west 1.26 miles (2.03 km) highway in the central-western part of the town of Amherst. It starts at an intersection with US 62 at the Amherst–Tonawanda town line just across from Ellicott Creek Park. The road travels east from here, following Ellicott Creek Road as it runs along the north side of Ellicott Creek. It intersects no other roads until it ends at an intersection with Sweet Home Road. At this point, Sweet Home Road shifts from state maintenance as unsigned NY 952T south of CR 232 to county maintenance as CR 301 north of CR 232. Ellicott Creek Road itself continues beyond the intersection but ends at a circle.

The entire length of CR 232 was designated as part of New York State Route 356 until that designation was removed on January 7, 1988. Prior to the construction of Interstate 990, Ellicott Creek Road continued to the intersection of Dodge (CR 45) and North Forest Roads (CR 294) just beyond the current expressway.

County Route 241 is a 2.61-mile (4.20 km) highway in the towns of Aurora and Elma. Known locally as Maple Road, County Route 241 connects US 20A, NY 16, and NY 78 with CR 574 and the NY 400 expressway.

County Route 241 begins at a T-intersection with US 20A, NY 16, and NY 78 in the village of East Aurora. The first 0.40 miles (0.64 km) of the road passes through the village, and is lined with aging village homes. At the East Aurora village line, the highway's character becomes more suburban, with homes more widely spaced. At 2.00 miles (3.22 km), NY 400 is intersected, providing access to and from the north. The remainder of the highway is lined with light industries, terminating at CR 574 0.61 miles (0.98 km) north of NY 400.

Route 242

County Route 242 is an 8.55-mile (13.76 km) highway in the towns of Aurora, Elma, and Lancaster. The highway, named Bowen Road, begins at an intersection with NY 16 and NY 78 in the town of Aurora and terminates at US 20 in the town of Lancaster.

County Route 242 travels north from its southern terminus, passing through residential neighborhoods and entering into the town of Elma after 0.65 miles (1.05 km). 1.65 miles (2.66 km) later, the highway intersects with Jamison Road (CR 574, formerly NY 422), providing access to NY 400. The highway progresses due north, passing small farms before intersecting Bullis Road (CR 330) in the hamlet of Elma Center. NY 354 is intersected north of the hamlet of Elma at 5.8 miles (9.3 km), and the town of Lancaster is entered soon afterward. Within Lancaster, County Route 242 is initially lined with fields, giving way to homes and residential developments in the vicinity of an intersection with William Street (CR 338). North of William Street, the highway curves past Como Lake Park and crosses Cayuga Creek, terminating at US 20 in East Lancaster.

Route 243

County Route 243 is a 2.31-mile (3.72 km) highway in the towns of Elma and Lancaster, in addition to the village of Lancaster. Known locally as Aurora Street, CR 243 travels from NY 354 in Elma to County Route 523 in Lancaster.

County Route 243 begins at NY 324 in Elma. Progressing northward, the highway passes through an area of light residential development, with homes becoming more abundant when the Town of Lancaster Lancaster is entered. At 1.51 miles (2.43 km), County Route 338 (William Street) is met at an intersection flanked by commercial properties. Shortly after CR 338, the highway enters the Village of Lancaster, terminating 0.49 miles (0.79 km) later at County Route 523 (Como Park Boulevard).

Route 245

County Route 245, known as Cayuga Road, is a north–south road in the towns of Cheektowaga and Amherst, as well as the village of Williamsville. In Cheektowaga, it runs along the western side of Buffalo International Airport. At its southern end, it starts at Genesee Street (unsigned NY 952A) as the northerly continuation of Dick Road (County Route 317). It enters the Town of Amherst just south of Wehrle Drive (County Route 290) and continues northbound, going under the New York State Thruway and entering the Village of Williamsville at the point where the road intersects a bike and hiking path created on an abandoned Lehigh Valley Railroad line. At the point where it passes under the Thruway, Cayuga Road becomes residential in nature with some apartment buildings, a church, and many stately late nineteenth and early twentieth century homes along with many beautiful large trees.

County Route 250 is a north–south 3.48 miles (5.60 km) highway located in northeastern Erie County. It is named Scotland Road and begins at an intersection with County Routes 246 (Crittenden Road), 248 (East Avenue), and 252 (Indian Falls Rd.) on the eastern edge of Akron, east of Akron Falls Park. CR 250 heads north from here, passing east of Akron Airport and intersecting CR 573 (Bloomingdale Road). The route continues on, intersecting Carney Road (CR 253) before ending at the southern boundary of the Tonawanda Indian Reservation.
